The Blurb:

To Jen, her life was a terrible bore. She wished she had more than the landscape she saw…

Jen lives alone on her solitary sand planet, until one day, a boy named Zak comes to visit. Through a little of Zak s magic and an unusual umbrella, Jen is transported to a beautiful world, and her new friend helps her learn a valuable lesson along the way.

My Review:

What a wonderful children’s book!

Jen lives on her ‘dull’ planet, but when she meets Zak, he shows her things from a different light and gets her to appreciate what she has.

The story was creative, and was themed about appreciating what you have, while also discussing the importance of colour and nature in your life. The rhyming was lyrical and the story magical.

The illustrations, too, were wonderfully evocative, bringing the story to life in a way that made my children constantly touch the pages and ask questions about the pictures (this after we had read the story about three times through from start to finish).

A great children’s book for bedtime reading!

*I received a free copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
