I am very pleased to be on the blog tour for Alex by Zoya Tessi, with a book review of the novel.

The Blurb:
Their wishes were simple and modest. Fate had other things in store though, and she can be a real bitch sometimes.
All he wanted was to get the job done and somehow to endure those long months playing nanny to a spoiled little rich girl. Without strangling her with his bare hands in the process. Well, it is going to be much easier said than done.
All she wanted was to escape the past and live like any other girl. Her plan definitely didn’t include the arrogant, tattooed savage, with his awful mohawk and lack of social graces, whose only mission was to stick real close and mess up her life.
But, people aren’t always what they seem to be, are they?
My Review:
Suspenseful, occasionally witty, and imminently readable, this is light yet engaging romantic suspense.
Sasha is a mobster’s daughter, trying to get away from the horrible world that claimed her mother. Alex is part of her father’s trustworthy entourage and is sent to protect Sasha when she becomes the target of a revenge plot. Sasha doesn’t want anything to do with the world that Alex inhabits. Alex wants nothing to do with his boss’s spoilt daughter. But then they start spending time together and the walls start to crumble…
I had trouble writing this review because, well, I was confused. There were elements of the book that I did not enjoy, such as the overuse of similes and metaphors, and the lack of differentiation in the protagonist voices when altering point of view. But there was something about the writing that made me keep reading, despite these issues and the fact that I knew where the plot was going (on all fronts). There was something about the surprisingly down-to-earthness of Sasha and the fight-against-instinct nature of Alex that made this enjoyable reading. Added to the banter between the protagonists, which was incredibly amusing, and the good dose of suspense, this was a fun read. One for reading on the beach!
