The Blurb:
Can true love’s kiss save the day…?
Electrifying dark magic debut by authors and sisters, Katharine and Elizabeth Corr.
Sixteeen-year-old Meredith is fed-up with her feuding family and feeling invisible at school – not to mention the witch magic that shoots out of her fingernails when she’s stressed. Then sweet, sensitive Jack comes into her life and she falls for him hard. The only problem is that he is periodically possessed by a destructive centuries-old curse.
Meredith has lost her heart, but will she also lose her life? Or in true fairytale tradition, can true love’s kiss save the day?
My Review:
Magic, young love, suspense, and action all packed into a great story…
Merry is not enjoying school or the magic that occasionally affects her ability to be, well, erm, normal. Which is when it all turns even darker, with an age-old curse, an annoying (but loveable) brother, and a boy named Jack that has more to him than first meets the eye…
Reeling you into the protagonist’s world from the get go, this deftly-written, myth-and-legend-infused tale of a young witch’s adventures made me nostalgic for the stories I had read to me as a child. Both mature and fantastical (in a good way), this is a great young adult romp into magic and folklore. Recommended.
So do you need to read the first one to follow the story? (Or is this the first one? The book titles get me confused lol)
Excellent review and this sounds like something I would enjoy!
